Roswell TeaLight Holder

My friend Ellen loves all things Roswell so I made her this tealight holder. It is made from an empty 10 oz Black Creek CandleWorks jar and polymer clay.

Directions:

• Mix translucent clay with a small amount of green and roll it very thin with a pasta machine.
• Cut "port holes" for the light to come through with a 1 inch cutter
• Add a thin layer of white glue before wrapping the jar
• Make ½ inch rope of green clay and add to the top; flattened it with your fingers, pressing it into the jar.
• Cover the connection between the rope and body of the jar with a thin gray rope and lightly glue in place.
• Use the back of a dinner knife to mark 1/2 to 3/4 inch vertical marks on the green rope.
• Add a tiny gray rope around the edge of the "port holes" and "rivet" them in place using tiny balls of gray clay pressed into place with a green seed bead.
• Do the same to the green rope at the top using larger "rivets" and larger green beads.
• Follow the clay manufacturer's directions for baking, but I used 265 degrees for 25 minutes.
• Meanwhile, fashion an Alien from gray clay and add bit black eyes. Use a piece of paper clip as a wire to support the neck by pushing one end into the head and the other into the body. Use another to support the arms. Bake the pieces supported for 30 minutes.

If you are used to working with polymer clay, this may be enough directions for you to create your own alien spaceship. Use your imagination and decorate as you like it....Then send me a picture and if I use it online, you'll get a free gift!

If you have never worked with polymer clay, I suggest you get a book for more details on working with this facinating product. It's easy and fun and there are a number of books available for both beginners and experienced polymer clay addicts.

But most of all, have fun creating new uses for our candle jars!
