How to Prepare the Containers
|
Preparing the candle jars:
Before food can be stored in the candle jar, it must be thoroughly cleaned. Our candle wicks are set in small metal wick “tab” that keep them upright and centered in the jar. The candle will burn until the wick burned down to the tab leaving only about ¼ inch of wax left in the jar. You must remove the wax and thoroughly clean the jar.
Microwave method:
Place the jar in the microwave for approximately 1 minute or just long enough for the wax to soften and melt enough for you to remove it. The metal tabs are glued to the glass and will not easily come out. You may leave them in place. Either wash well by hand or in the dishwasher.
Candle Warmer method:
Place the jar on a candle warmer until the wax melts. Pour the melted wax into a votive holder and allow it to cool. The metal tabs are glued to the glass and will not easily come out. You may leave them in place. Either wash well by hand or in the dishwasher. The votive holder may be placed on the candle warmer for hours of additional fragrance from your new wickless candle!
Preparing the Lid:
The lid may be used as is for storing dry goods like coffee, cotton balls or popcorn. However, for items with high moisture or that must be refrigerated, the under side of the lid must be protected.
Carefully snap off the plastic ring from the lid. Use it as a template to draw a circle the size of the bottom of the lid on aluminum foil. Cut out the circle and place over the bottom of the lid. Replace the plastic ring to secure. This will keep moisture off the bottom of the wooden lid.
